April 5, 2008 - Old Blogs
I just read the first blog I wrote on here which was from a year and a
half ago! crazy. in it i remembered how back then i wanted to get
really malnourished for the role... haha this is actually very funny to
me now bc once you watch the movie you will see why.. I gained about 10
while shooting bc i didnt stop eating. so instead of not eating bc of
depression lets just say sean eats more when he’s depressed. i wonder
if christian bale would be disappointed in me.
Also noticed how
boring I am. I just say the same things repeatedly. My apologies to
those who read this. I think I said pepsi in about 4 blogs and I didn’t
count but knowing myself I probably complained about the cold just as
many.
Onto the film... we shoot the final 4 days in June. So I
will be flying back to Iowa for that come June. (Boring DJ would have
mentioned how grateful he was that the cold winter would be over, but
new DJ is trying to make some personal growth so he won’t bring it up.) |

March 29, 2008 - Back in LA
It’s true. I am back in my nice weather. As much as I love Iowa I
HATE the cold weather. My definition of cold is anything below 70. So
we’ve been getting some weirdly high numbers of people checking out the
site at jdproductions.org (which I think still needs
some updating with production stills and whatnot) so much thanks to
anyone who’s helped and shown an interest in the film.
Let me see here... what do I want to talk about? Oh yeah... could we
PLEASE get some real friend requests? We have two pages of friend
requests from webcam girls. And I only use this to post blogs so I have
no idea if there were a lot more that got deleted...
So apparently we’re being mistaken for one of those kind of films...
you know what kind. I suppose I could understand if Eternal Punishment
had parenthesis that followed with like S&M. lol that would be
kinda funny actually. Okay Jimmy’s probably going to delete this blog
because it makes no sense. I promise I’ll write something of substance
next time, but right now I’m tired it’s a saturday night at 1130 and I
still have a couple hours of work ahead of me.
Yeah, I’m done. |

March 21, 2008 - Day X of Shooting
I have no idea what day of shooting this is. I know it’s been more than
a week. To be honest, I don’t even know what day it is. Today was
freezing. We shot at the abandoned house (pictured as the default pic
for this myspace) and it was like 25 with the wind chill and I had to
be in a t-shirt. I think Jimmy was trying to seek revenge for
something. I’ll have to find out what I did. But it’s just pepsi, right? |
|
March 16, 2008 - Day 3 of Shooting
I really feel like today went well. Definitely the best day we’ve had
so far. The acting was so much better than the first couple days. Oh,
by the way, I didn’t have any scenes today.
We’re about to watch dailies, which I will watch since I wasn’t in
these scenes. (I hate watching myself so I never do, however, once the
film is finished I will force myself to sit through it)

BUT - it's just pepsi you know? |

March 14, 2008 - Day 1 of Shooting
"It’s just pepsi, you know?" is our new mantra. I have taken it upon
myself to promote Pepsi products while shooting. I feel it’s my civic
duty to help out the little guy in this corporate world. Therefore, I’m
spreading the word about this little soda called Pepsi. You should try
it.
Filming went okay. I got over my nerves without puking in the bathroom.
Do you think I would have actually puked? (That’s a trick question
because I physically can’t puke so how would we ever know, right?)
Jimmy and some friends are watching the dailies here any minute so I
need to get going fast so that I don’t have to watch myself. Spread the
word about our movie... and pepsi, of course. |

April 11, 2007
Important news - it's snowing in Iowa today. (for those of you
fortunate enough to be warm someplace else) Not fun. I mean we're
supposed to be in this huge global warming crisis -- so can't we at
least enjoy the few benefits of it? Nope! Of course not. Apparently the
polar ice caps get to melt and be warm but us poor folk in Iowa have to
endure snow in April. And what's worse is I get my friends calling me
from LA telling me they're going to the beach. I hate them right now. I
hate everyone that's warm. Not in a serial killer way,
though. Anyway... now that I got that rant out over...
As of now Eternal Punishment (from here on out I'm gonna refer to it
as EP, kinda catchy, huh?) will not be shooting soon. Soonish but not
soon. And by soonish I mean, well, we don't really know when. Because
of schedules and getting the right crew and the delays that have
already taken place and lots more reasons we will be shooting EP
sometime. When I know, I will tell you. So for right now we're shooting
soonish.
Until then you can check back on here to read me ranting about the weather, or (and this is my personal favorite) you can either bug everyone
you know and tell them about our little indie film and have them check
it out or find some way to stop this damn snow. |

March 21, 2007
Okay, so I told myself I would write a weekly blog. Yeah, like that happened.
A
lot actually has happened since i last wrote. A lot. Anyway, I've been
busy with different films I've written that are getting going which I'm
pretty stoked, to say the least, about. But Eternal Punishment has also
had a lot going on.
We shot the trailer. Which was kinda
scary. I honestly has no sleep the entire weekend and we had like 1/3
the crew that the feature will have. It's on youtube if you haven't
seen it or if you're interested. I have to say despite my horrible
(well, I think it's horrible, Jimmy might be mad that I say that)
performance it turned out pretty well. I have to give that credit to
Jimmy and the crew.
The film is in pre-production now. I don't
myelf even know what the completely entails. I have an idea but am not
100% confident. Jimmy is meeting with investors to help us get a real
budget that is more realistic. I am so stoked about this because I know
that if it's shot well (which requires enough money) it will be,
without any doubts, a very powerful film that makes people think.
Like
I said, the trailer is on youtube, so you should check it out if you
haven't. My myspace is myspace.com/djhalferty if you have any
questions. It's private as of now but will soon be public. I'm changing
it a bit.
Well, now it's time for me to go out with some
friends. I rarely do this since I work on film projects 24/7 but
tonight I am throwing responsibilities aside and having some fun.
As
cheesy as it sounds, tell your friends about the movie. We appreciate
so much all the support we already have and everyone who has helped
this film so far. |

November 9, 2006
First blogs are always awkward. I guess I don't have extensive
experience with the whole "blog writing" craze but I'm sure the second
one will be a lot easier. So I will be playing Sean and I have to say
that I am so excited, so terrified, so ready and so sick of the word
so, as I'm sure you are, too. This role, this movie -- everything -- is
going to be such a ride. The website has a short little paragraph about
the film's premise but the story is kinda hard to sum up in a couple
sentences. Yes, it deals with that but it really gets deep into
depression and it's struggles, of guilt and how it can consume our
lives, suicide, but also how an intelligent teenager can't relate to
anyone or our messed up society. Pretty much: it's an ambitious, narly
film (narly is one of my favorite words, but only when it's spelled
without the "g")
I've been involved in the project in some way
with Jimmy for about two years now. And everything has just come
together and it's such a blessing. We're actually making a movie in
Iowa. To me that is the coolest part. Making a movie in LA is not as
difficult as it sounds. People work for free when they're excited about
a project (you'd be surprised how many extremely talented people go out
and shoot low budget indies on the side), you can cut deals, etc, etc.
But this is Iowa. No tax benefits to shoot in Iowa. Not many people who
even make films in Iowa. (Although, everyone I have come in contact
with in Iowa that do write scripts or shoot projects here have always
been incredibly talented, genuine, awesome people)
Pretty much
I'll be writing from time to time on here as we're in pre-production
and then through post. Don't know how many people will actually be
reading, but, who cares -- this will be fun and I'll try my best to put
in here the new updates, what we're doing and just writing about the
process.
Yesterday I got to see pictures of the house we're
burning down.(Some of them are on MySpace but the rest are on the
website) Yeah, that's not a lie. We're burning down a house. Well, I
can't take credit because I will probably not have much part in the
actual burning. I'll be in the scene, though. Hopefully they will let
me help light the fire or something! Oh geez, I'm such a secret pyro...
please don't tell anyone.
This week Jimmy's reworking the
script a bit, along with finishing production on his documentary (props
to him, not only because he has the coolest name ever, but he's so busy
and yet he's still getting it all done) I'm starting a "get
underweight, depressed and druggy looking diet". It sucks. I just
started. But it will be worth it come January when we film and I look
scrawny! Hopefully. Okay, I'm done. | |
